Liu Jie
Liu Jie was born in Tianjin, China, in 1968. In 1991, he graduated from the Cinematography Department of Beijing Film Academy. In 2006, his directorial debut, Courthouse on Horseback, won the Orizzonti Award at the 63rd Venice International Film Festival. Three years later, his second feature, Judge, was selected in Orizzonti at Venice and won the Best Original Screenplay Award at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival.
