“Windows on the World” Feature Film Competition Jury
Abderrahmane Sissako – President
He was born in 1961 in Kiffa, Mauritania, and spent his childhood and adolescence in Mali, the country where his father was born. In 1989 he graduated in directing from the VGIK, the film school in Moscow, with the short film Le jeu. In 1993 Octobre won the prize for the best short film at Un Certain Regard. In 1997 he made the documentary Rostov-Luanda and in 1999 La vie sur terre received a special mention from the jury at Fespaco. In 2002 his debut feature film, Heremakono. Waiting for happiness, was the Best Film at Fespaco and won the Fipresci Prize at Un Certain Regard. In 2006, he made Bamako, which consecrated him with the public and critics alike. Timbuktu was presented in 2014 in the official competition at the Cannes Festival, has won 7 Césars and was nominated for the Oscar for the Best Foreign Language Film.
Antonella Antonelli
She was born in Rome in 1955. In 1980 she entered the world of publishing as editorial secretary of the monthly “Donna”. In 1982, she wrote about fashion and in 1984 became a professional journalist: these were the beginnings of a career that took her to “Marie Claire” from its birth in 1987. From special reportages to chief editor. from deputy head of Fashion and Beauty to Editor in Chief of the magazine in 2007. In 2012, she promoted in Italy, together with Livia Firth, The Circle of Oxfam Italy (founded in England in 2008 thanks to an initiative by Annie Lennox).
Joan Bardeletti
After a degree in engineering, since 2006 he has dedicated himself to photography, joining the cooperative photo agency Picturetank. Since 2008 he has been working on a long-term project on the new Africas. In 2011 he founded Collateral Creations, a production platform which brings together art photography and sociological research. His work is regularly published in the national and international press, such as Libération, Le Monde, Jeune Afrique, Géo, Marie Claire, Newsweeks, L’Espresso, Die Zeit.

Giancarlo Zappoli
He is Chief Editor of MYmovies.it as well as the artistic director of Castellinaria, the International Festival of Young Cinema of Bellinzona. He teaches “Architecture in the Movies” at the Faculty of Architecture of the Politecnico in Milan. He contributes to the magazines “Il Ragazzo Selvaggio”, “Gnosis. Rivista italiana di Intelligence”, “Carte di Cinema” and is a member of the Board of the Centro Studi Cinematografici. He has published Invito al Cinema di Woody Allen (Mursia), Eric Rohmer (Il Castoro Cinema) and, with Elena Galeotto, Lo schermo a puntate. Uomini e donne nelle serie televisive (Effatà). He has co-edited monographs on Louis Malle, Claude Lelouch, Antonio Pietrangeli, Blake Edwards, Marco Bellocchio, Hou Hsiao-Hsien and Patrice Leconte.
Anna Praderio
She was born in Milan. She has been a journalist since 1983 and started her career with contributions to the Milan pages of “La Repubblica” newspaper, and then working on the news desk of Teleradio Milano Due. Since 1985, she has been on the news desk of Mediaset, and has been part of TG5 since its foundation. For 15 years, she edited the weekly programme on cinema, “Ciak”, aired on all the Mediaset channels. She edits the Cinema section of TG5, following major events, the Oscars, the Festivals in Cannes, Venice and Rome and, since 2007, has had a feature, Note di Cinema, on Iris, the thematic channel of Mediaset. She has published two books, Ragazze vincenti, on the female conquests in the American film industry, and Jim Carrey.
Simona Spaventa
From Piedmont, her first contributions in the field of journalism date back to when she was at secondary school, to small local publications. After a degree in Romance Philology and a master’s degree in Freiburg, she attended the Istituto per la Formazione al Giornalismo in Milan. Today she is a freelance journalist and theatre critic and contributes to the Milan and national pages of La Repubblica, writing about the theatre and cinema.

EXTR’A COMPETITION
The Fondazione ACRA-CCS awards a prize to the best Italian film that looks at other cultures and with the topics of immigration. The prize will be awarded by a Jury made up of intercultural guides with whom ACRA-CCS collaborates and by a representative of ACRA-CCS as President. The members of the jury are Nadiya Radchenko (Ukraine), Diana Carolina Leon Freire (Ecuador), Margarita Clement Missaglia (Argentina), Mariela Lara (Ecuador), Maria Luisa Gutierrez (Peru), Maria Eugenia Esparragoza (Venezuela), with Patrizia Canova as President.
Special Awards
Arnone Prize – Bellavite Pellegrini Foundation
The Prize consists of the acquisition of the distribution rights in Italy and is awarded by a Jury of young people to the best short film on the topics of Globalization, Governance, Rule of Law and intercultural dialogue.
CINIT and CEM Prize – Mondialità
The prize consists of the acquisition of the distribution rights in Italy of an African short film with educational value.
ISMU Prize
The Fondazione Ismu (Iniziative e studi sulla Multietnicità) awards a prize to the best short film at the festival with educational value. The Prize consists of the acquisition of the distribution rights in Italy and is awarded by a jury of teachers.
SUNUGAL Prize
The Prize consists of the acquisition of the distribution rights in Italy and is awarded by a Jury made up of members of the Sunugal Association to the best African short film.
Razzismo Brutta Storia Prize
The association Il razzismo è una brutta storia and laFeltrinelli award a special prize to the best film in the section on the themes of racism and integration.
SIGNIS Prize (OCIC e UNDA)
The prize is awarded by the World Catholic Association for Communication. The jury members are Gianluca Bernardini, Guido Convent, Vanessa Lanari and Gaetano Liguori.
LENOVO Prize
The prize is a Yoga Tablet 2 Pro awarded by Lenovo to the best emerging filmmaker who uses technology to tell stories about intercultural society.
